Cambridge Cangaroos pick up seven medals from Regional Challenge Cup fixture in Colchester
Despite losing a number of competitors to illness in the build up to the most recent Regional Challenge Cup series meeting in Colchester on March 12, Cambridge Cangaroos still produced a highly competitive set of results.
The club took a total of 15 gymnasts to Essex for the event, with their first member starting at 9am and the final one finishing their routine at 6.10pm to end a long day of competition.
Nevertheless, it was still a successful outing for the group who train in Whittlesford as four gold medals and a further three silvers were won. One of those on top of the podium was Liannah Le Roy-Tickner, who triumphed in the Double Mini-Tramp Women’s 11-12 category with a total score of 60.10.
And she was joined in picking up the top prize by club-mates Izzy Moultrie (TPD Reg 2 Cat 2 Women’s Under-15), Eliza Enright (Club 1 Women’s 7-8)and Isobel Manners (Club 2 Women’s 7-8). Meanwhile, silver medals were won by Poppy Budd (TRA Level 2 Women 15+), pictured above, Sydney Kelly (TRA Level 3 Women 15+) and Freya Carter (TRA Level 3 Women 9-10).
The club’s gymnasts are now working towards the regional finals, which will be held in Cambridge at the University Sports Centre on Sunday, June 18.
