Cambridge City under-12s have been crowned champions of the Pitchero Aces National Tournament.

The Lilywhites had already won their Cambs League Cup and the National Futsal Cup, and they headed to Nottingham for the highly-respected annual competition to face fellow champions from across the UK.

From a tough looking qualifying group, City won four, drew won and lost one to finish second on goal difference to Billericay to reach the quarter-finals.

In the last eight, they defeated Notts County 1-0, and had a similar result againstLeicester in the last four.

It saw them face Billiericay in the final, who they had beaten in the futsal final at St George’s Park in May but who had defeated City in the group stages.

City scored the only goal of the game to clinch a 1-0 victory and add to their growing medal haul.

What is also impressive is that the City team were playing up a year so were sometimes facing players up to two years older than them.
