Two nominations for England Hockey gongs

Cambridge City Hockey Club have received two nominations in the England Hockey Awards.

The ladies’ third team are in the running for the Investec women’s team of the year after winning their league this season.

They are the highest-ranked third team in the country, help push junior players through the club and encourage team members to coach/volunteer with City’s Flyerz disability hockey scheme.

City chairman Andy Richardson is on the shortlist for the unsung club hero accolade, having created a cohort of more than 40 volunteers to give up their time to help more than 500 people regularly play team sport in Cambridge and the surrounding area.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, May 19.
