Cambridge City Hockey Club pair Lexi Small and Kate Beytell called up by England Colleges for second year in a row

Cambridge City duo Lexi Small and Kate Beytell have been selected as part of the AoC Sport England Colleges Women’s Hockey squad for the second year running.

Hills Road Sixth Form College’s Small and Impington Village College’s Beytell both impressed selectors during last month’s trial and will now go forward to play in February’s scheduled matches against England Universities.

David Madden, who coaches the pair as part of Cambridge City’s Women’s II team, said of their inclusion: “They are regular starters at Women’s II level and this is down in no small part to their exceptional attitudes and the commitment to training that both show.

“They are exactly the sort of players you want in a team. They always work hard, are versatile enough to play in several different positions depending on what is required on a given day, and you know they’ll produce consistently high levels of performance.”
