Cambridge City have added two new players to their squad ahead of the start of pre-season training.

Striker Tom Hitchcock, who had a spell on loan last season, and former Royston Town captain Taylor Parr have joined their ranks.

The Lilywhites have also promoted under-18s Connor Barnes and Collins Nwakor to their first-team squad.

It comes after City’s appeal about being moved into the Northern Premier League, Midlands Division was rejected by the FA, but despite that decision, they have so far managed to confirm the retention of all but Tom Gardiner.

“To retain all bar one of last year’s squad so far is a real positive for the club going into pre-season and the coming campaign,” said City manager Robbie Nightingale.

“These lads create such a buzz and positive playing atmosphere that is great to work with.

“We have a great balance of senior players and raw young talent in the squad which is really exciting.”

City start their pre-season fixtures with a trip to Kempston this Saturday (July 4).

Meanwhile, Cambridge City Ladies have appointed Marcus Kamutero as development team manager.

He has been with the club for five years and was keen to make the move up to a managerial role.
