Cambridge Granta and Burwell suffer Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League defeats
Duo unable to get over the line
Cambridge Granta were left high and dry as they lost by 61 runs at Horsford in Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.
Luke Findlay made 80 not out for the hosts as they were dismissed for 225.
Alex Sears claimed three for 48 and Owen Simonsen took three for 56.
But Granta struggled to get going with the bat.
Opener Ben Claydon led the way with 44, but no-one else could get out of the twenties as Granta’s challenge fell short – Ryan Findlay taking six for 40 to bowl them out for 164.
Tom Jagot’s century could not help Burwell to victory over Copdock & Old Ipswichian.
The damage was done to Burwell by Copdock openers Martyn Cull and Jaik Mickleburgh, with the duo putting on 192 for the first wicket.
Cull was eventually dismissed for 133 and Mickleburgh for 94, but Copdock got to 355 for 6 declared. Josh Arksey took three for 78.
Jagot was the mainstay of Burwell’s innings, hitting 121 before being the eighth wicket to fall.
He had valuable partnerships with Joe Tetley (38) and Paul Summerskill (56) but despite the best efforts of Josh Vowden and Arksey to bat out a draw, Burwell were all out for 285, giving Copdock a 70-run win.
