No joy for duo in Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League

Cambridge Granta were left six short in their run chase as they were beaten by Norwich in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.

Norwich No 3 William O’Donnell was the mainstay of the Norwich innings, making 77 before being the eighth man dismissed, with the team on 157.

But Jason Blake (46) and Ben Cudden (34) carried the score along to 247 all out.

Owen Simonsen (three for 31) and Henry Campbell (three for 38) were the leading wicket-takers for Granta.

However, in reply, they were just unable to get over the line.

Michael Pepper (41) and Johnny Atkinson (36) were their top scorers, as they were bowled out for 241.

Paul Summerskill’s century was in vain for Burwell as they lost by three wickets to Bury St Edmunds.

Summerskill arrived at the crease with the score at 72 for 2, and by the time he departed, bowled by Sean Park, his 117 off 117 balls had carried the side along to 270 for 7.

However, Burwell were unable to defend the target, and their scourge was Daron Cruickshank.

The No 4 batsman had been handed a steady platform by Ben Curran (45) and Alistair Allchin (51), and he went on to smash 111 not out off 73 balls, including 10 fours and six sixes.

It helped Bury to victory with 275 for 7.
