Cambridge look set to finish bottom of RFU Championship table after suffering home defeat to London Scottish

Cambridge look destined to finish bottom of the RFU Championship following Saturday’s 43-13 defeat at home to London Scottish.

Hosting Cambridge took a 13-0 lead with them into the break, but the visitors rallied to run out comfortable winners after the restart.

Head coach Richie Williams told the Richie & Jacko Podcast: “Ultimately we didn’t score enough points in the first half. That was a big wind and the opportunities that we created compared to the ones we converted cost us.

“Another score – if we were going in 20-0 up – as opposed to 13-0, we’d have a bit more of a buffer. We missed two clear cut opportunities in that first half.

“Second half, we’ve got to take a really hard look at ourselves with some of the desire.

“They’ve not had to work hard enough for those points. Against any team in this league, if you give them opportunities they’re going to hurt you.

“I’m massively disappointed. The first 40 minutes we showed a little bit of what we’re about, but ultimately credit to London Scottish – they’ve got five points and we’ve got nothing.”

Cambridge head to Cornish Pirates on Sunday (21 April).
