Goalkeeper Ethan Brown made a crucial late save to earn Cambridge Nomads a 2-1 win over second-placed Potters Bar in East Men’s League, Division One.

Jack Franklin deflected in Joe Phillips’ hit into the D to give them the lead, but Potters Bar equalised from a deflected short corner.

Alex Mutucumarana slid in to deflect Franklin’s shot home at the break.

In a tense second half, Brown stopped a penalty flick five minutes from time to seal the win.

Cambridge South felt they deserved more for their efforts in a 1-0 defeat to title-chasers Wapping III.

There was nothing to choose between the teams in the first half, with South’s defence, marshalled by man-of-the-match Paresh Parsot, keeping the division’s top scorers quiet but at the other end, they could not find the decisive pass.

Wapping made the breakthrough from a penalty corner in the second half.

Cambridge City III suffered a frustrating 1-0 loss to West Herts II.

Despite having the better of the game and creating more chances, it was the story of their season as they were unable to convert and slipped to defeat.

City II suffered a 5-0 defeat to a strong West Herts side in a top-of-the-table clash in Premier A that saw their opponents promoted to the national league.
