Cambridge Rubies on the lookout for new players

By CambridgeIndependent Reporter

Maya Collinson touches down twice as under-15s face Bedford

Maya Collinson grabbed two tries as Cambridge Rubies under-15s had a narrow 24-20 defeat to Bedford Junior Blues.

In driving rain and with a powerful wind sweeping the pitch, the relative inexperience of the Cambridge side allowed Bedford to capitalise to build a 19-0 lead by half time.

However, the Rubies showed character to score four quick tries through Collinson, Cody Youngman and Rebecca Clough to take a one-point lead.

Bedford regrouped though and against the run of play scored a breakaway try to earn the 24-20 win.

Cambridge Rubies are looking for new players.

Girls aged between 11 and 17 are invited to attend training sessions at the Grantchester Road-based club on a Sunday morning, from 11am to 12.30pm, and a Wednesday evening, from 6pm to 7.30pm.

No experience of rugby is necessary.
