Cambridge Dive Team take home seven medals from a successful time at the Armada Cup in Plymouth
Cambridge Dive Team enjoyed a successful time at the Armada Cup in Plymouth.
Despite having a team of only six divers, the Cambridge club was represented in 10 finals, with a return of seven medals.
Daisy Hall was first to represent the club in the Girls Group A 1m and after finishing third in the preliminary event, she kicked on in the final to claim a silver medal.
Meanwhile, in the Girls B 1m event, Amelia Aldridge and Zia Gordon finished fifth and 12th respectively.
Rufus Bord narrowly missed out on a medal as he finished fourth in the Boys Group B 3m, but he returned in determined mood the next day and was rewarded with a gold in the 1m competition. And he followed that up on day three with a silver medal thanks to a series of impressive 7.5m platform dives.
Charlie Tibbatts took a bronze medal in the Boys Group C 1m before ending up fifth in the 1m springboard. And he was not done there as he reached the final of the platform competition and despite making a few errors due to tiredness, he rallied to collect another bronze.
Tobi Fayomi did not have any competitions on day one, but she made up for lost time by outperforming the rest of the field in the Girls C 1m event to secure a gold medal.
There was then further success for Fayomi in the platforms, where she improved her third-place finish in the preliminaries to win a silver medal.
The club’s development officer Alice Clarke said: “Cambridge divers showed that they are up for the challenge with fantastic results across the board. Our athletes have qualified for National Age Groups in June.”
