Cambridge South men’s first team continue losing start to new East Men’s League Division 1 North season
Cambridge South have started the new East Men’s League Division 1 North campaign with back-to-back 3-2 defeats.
On this occasion they were beaten at home by a Dereham I side that raced into a 2-0 lead within the opening 20 minutes.
Will Townley cut the advantage in half but the visitors restored their two-goal cushion before half-time.
A reverse stick strike from Tim Winter 10 minutes from time provided hope that South could nab themselves a point but it was not to be.
On Saturday (October 8) the first team will head to Pelicans I.
In the East Men’s League Division 2NW, Cambridge South II squandered a one-goal lead to lose to 2-1 at City of Peterborough III.
Some heroics from South goalkeeper Dave Potter kept the scoreline blank before the away team took the lead through Steve Jackson’s deflected penalty corner.
However, Potter was eventually beaten by a set-piece and then again from open play to seal the win for Peterborough.

Ford turned provider for the team’s second goal as Juliette Stoop applied the finishing touch.
