Cambridge South won 4-0 against Pelicans to seal promotion from East Women’s League, 2NW.

Alice Wright got the ball rolling with a powerful strike, and speedy winger Katie Gibson raced away for the second goal.

Robyn McLean netted the third from a penalty corner, and Laura Ludlow got the fourth after the break, her 19th in 18 games.

It was South’s 16th win of the campaign, and as news filtered through that third-placed Dereham had lost, it confirmed promotion.

“We secured promotion to Division 1, a goal we set ourselves at the start of the season,” said captain McLean.

“I’m so proud of the hard work of the team over the last few months, well done girls!. Thank you ever so much to our coach Dave Grammer. We did it!”

May Busher and Charlotte Laing fired Cambridge City IV to a 2-0 win over Cambridge Nomads in a hard-fought match in 2NW.

There was an equal share of possession throughout, but Nomads were unable to convert their chances when they arrived.

Busher burst onto a pass to finish neatly and Laing secured the win with a penalty-corner finish.

Goalkeeper Fi Douglas and midfielder Abi Halliday shared Nomads’ player-of-the-match honours.
