Cambridge Rugby Club to host England Under-19s’ fixture against Japan at Ellgia Fields
A second England age-group team will play a fixture at Cambridge Rugby Club’s Ellgia Fields base next year.
Last month the club confirmed that they will lock horns with world champions England Under-20s in a friendly fixture on 11 January.
And now it has been revealed that England Under-19s will use the ground for an encounter against their Japanese counterparts on 22 March.
The match, which is the first between between the nations’ under-19 sides in nearly 20 years, will form part of England’s spring programme of games.
Cambridge chairman Tim Hague said: “We are delighted to be hosting this very prestigious fixture at Ellgia Fields.
“It’s quite a compliment from the RFU to grant us two such important pathway fixtures, and plays very much to our own mission in focusing on the transition from youth rugby to senior elite rugby, alongside being true to our identity as a club rooted in the community.”
