Cambridge United make swoop for Bristol City attacker
Saikou Janneh has become Cambridge United's second signing of the summer.
The 22-year-old striker has joined from Bristol City on a two-year deal.
United head coach Mark Bonner said: “Saikou has shown flashes of quality in recent seasons that have made us aware of him for some time.
“He has lots of potential which we are looking forward to maximise and we look forward to helping him develop within our squad.
“Saikou adds good competition across the attacking line. He is comfortable both wide and centrally and is an excellent athlete.”
Janneh started out in the academy of Bath City while studying at Bath College, and during that time also played for Clevedon Town.
He caught the eye of Bristol City, and joined their academy, subsequently going out on loan spells to Torquay United, Newport County and Shrewsbury Town on-loan.
“I am very glad to be here," said Janneh, who made six first-team appearances for Championship side Bristol City.
“I feel like I am finally wanted. This is the best opportunity for me and I am happy to make a fresh start. I am ready and can't wait.”
Janneh will wear the No 17 shirt at United, becoming their second summer signing after the addition of goalkeeper James Holden from Reading.
