Cambridge United outline ticket costs for 2022/23 season
Ian Mather has outlined the reasoning behind Cambridge United having to increase their season ticket prices for next season.
The club have set the pricing structure for the 2022/23 season, and it takes into account a number of different societal and footballing factors.
It considers the impact of inflation, the club’s desire to try to remain competitive in League One and upcoming investment in facilities and the match-day experience for supporters.
“It’s been an unforgettable two years for the club after promotion and then achieving our highest ever league finish since 1994,” said United CEO Mather.
“In many ways, this season was even greater than when we won promotion as we were able to share the many highs with our supporters. Next season we will be playing Peterborough for the first time in 20 years and Derby County who we last played in 1993. There are many exciting games ahead.
“Our planning for the coming campaign is well under way and as part of that we have reviewed ticket prices. There is an increase and to some extent this is due to inflation of our running costs that we cannot absorb.
“We are also planning on improving the fan experience around the ground which requires some significant investment. On the pitch, we will continue to build a squad that remains competitive in League One. Our ticket prices reflect our firm aim to be a sustainable football club playing at the best possible level. Season-ticket holders will be paying from £16.04 (seated) and from £14.30 (standing) per game, which we think still represents good value.”
Current season-ticket holders can renew from Tuesday, May 3 and have until the end of the month to purchase within a discounted rate window.
The general sale starts on June 6, and supporters have the option to buy in up to four monthly instalments.
The young adults category has been changed from 18 to 23 to 18 to 21, which is based on expected full-time employment.
Season tickets for under-12s will include the new and improved Junior U’s membership package. Main stand season-ticket holders have until 3.30pm on May 31 to reserve their 2022/23 seats.
