Cambridge United produce gritty display to earn point at Cheltenham United
U's bounce back at Whaddon Road
Cambridge United bounced back from their 7-0 drubbing by Luton at the weekend with a hard fought goalless draw at Cheltenham in Sky Bet League Two.
It was a gritty response which was achieved despite an injury to midfielder Liam O’Neil in the first half.
In the rain at Whaddon Road last night (Tuesday), United showed their battling qualities to earn a precious point.
United have now gone three games without a goal or a win but after Saturday’s debacle, boss Shaun Derry will be mightily pleased they have steadied the ship.
The visitors had their share of the chances with Uche Ikpeazu almost getting on the scoresheet in the 76th minute but his effort was saved.
The striker had another effort deflected over the crossbar from six yards as they searched for a goal that would break the deadlock.
Cheltenham had their chances too but United held out and will look to build on the result at home against local rivals Stevenage in League Two on Saturday.
