Cambridge United say thanks to NHS and key workers on Abbey Stadium pitch
Ian Darler has demonstrated Cambridge United's thanks to NHS and emergency service staff by putting a message on the club's pitch at the Abbey Stadium.
The U's and their groundstaff felt that they had to show how much the key workers are valued in such challenging times.
"During my 40 years at Cambridge United, I was very fortunate to work with all the emergency services for 30 years whilst acting as the football club match-day safety officer and the doctors, ambulance officers, paramedics, police and fire service I worked with all worked together as a team and when an emergency situation occurred it was like a well-oiled machine because that is what they do in our time of need," said the United stadium manager.
"I have always been amazed by the quality of service all the NHS staff and emergency service staff provide whilst putting aside their own safety I feel very privileged to have worked alongside so many of these outstanding people to witness their outstanding commitment to help others.
"I felt that we had to say thanks to all the very brave caring NHS staff and emergency service staff for working in such challenging times."
