Cambridge United to host Tottenham Hotspur for Josh Couslon testimonial

Premier League side to bring under-23 team for friendly

Cambridge United have confirmed a pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspur under-23s at the Cambs Glass Stadium as Josh Coulson’s testimonial.

The North London club will visit on Friday, July 21, with a 7.45pm kick off.

It is United centre-back Coulson’s testimonial season after spending 10 years at the club, and Spurs were the team that he grew up supporting.

“The dinner that we hosted for Josh was a brilliant evening, with iconic figures from the club’s past joining guests ranging from the club chairman, directors, staff, friends and family,” said United chief executive Jez George.

“The event was a sell-out and everyone present was able to show their respect and affection to truly ‘one of our own’.

“This game now gives our wider fanbase the opportunity to pay tribute to such a long-serving, loyal and honest player, who has represented the club with such distinction on and off the pitch.

“We are extremely grateful to Tottenham Hotspur for their help in making this game possible. Make no mistake, they will have some exceptional young players and it will be a really competitive, high quality fixture.

“I would urge everyone to support Josh and give him another night to remember. He deserves it.”

It will be United’s third home game during pre-season, with matches already confirmed against Norwich City and Southend United.

Ticket details for all three matches at the Cambs Glass Stadium will be released in the next week.

United also have six away matches, starting at St Neots Town (Saturday, July 8), followed by St Albans (Tuesday, July 11), Royston Town (Wednesday, July 12), Ebbsfleet United (Tuesday, July 18), Dartford (Saturday, July 22) and Hemel Hempstead (Wednesday, July 26).
