Boat clubs take top honours

Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club completed the double at the Quintin Head.

They placed first and second overall, with the respective crews winning the elite and senior categories.

The first eight won the elite category in 10.52.6.

No 6 seat Olivia Coffey said: “The race was a great opportunity to race against strong crews and test the changes that we’ve been working on over the past few week.

“As a team, we’ve stepped up our level of performance since the fall. I’m looking forward to building on this momentum and continuing to improve through to the Boat Race.”

Millie Perrin, who learned to row at Cantabrigian Rowing Club, stroked the second crew in the senior category as they finished in 11min 6.3sec.

“Racing Quintin Head this weekend was really exciting and it was an excellent marker to see how our speed as a crew is developing,” said Perrin.

“Coming second overall just behind our first eight was incredibly satisfying, and I am looking forward to seeing how much more speed we can develop out of this.”

Cambridge University Boat Club won the men’s race in 9.55.0.
