Fourball delight helped Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union seniors recapture the Rhea Trophy by beating Bedfordshire at St Ives Golf Club.

In the morning greensomes, Keith Moore and Bill Rusted won one up for Cambs after winning three holes in a row, captain Graham Goodman and Bas Setchell triumphed two up, and there was a half for Gog Magog duo Steve Trench and Andrew Petrie.

But defeats elsewhere meant Cambs trailed 3½-2½.

Moore and Rusted earned a half in the afternoon fourballs and John Yuill and Peter Laughlin shot birdies to win 2&1.

Trench and Petrie recovered from one down after nine holes to birdie 10, 11 and 14 to win 2&1.

Richard Heyes and Doug Poole triumphed 2&1 to help them take the fourballs 7-5 for an overall 9½- 8½.
