Cambridge Cangaroos collected a highly respectable number of medals at Sunday’s Club and Regional Championships – and head coach Tony Fagelman felt the squad could have picked up even more.
The club, which trains at their base in Whittlesford, entered 27 gymnasts and two synchro pairs into the event, which took part at the Cambridge University Sports Centre.
Fagelman said: “The event was great and we always love to be able to bring it to Cambridge.
“As a club we enjoyed being part of it and it’s good preparation for what is to come this summer.
“As a squad it was not our best ever and we felt that we might end up winning more medals than we actually did.
“But that’s the nature of our sport and sometimes things don’t go for you.
“Having said that, we still had some significant results and amazing performances.”
Lucas Coleman-Denny, Iza Moultrie and Eloise Symons were among the Cangaroos that won gold medals, while there was silver medals for the likes of Poppy Budd, Ellis-Mae Le Roy-Tickner, Pattie Dobbyne, Matilda Enright and Eliza Enright.
The club will now switch their focus to the National Championships qualifier next month and the English Championships qualifier in June.
