Cambridge Cangaroos will be well represented at English Championship Finals in Telford

Cambridge Cangaroos will be represented by eight gymnasts at the English Championship Finals following the latest round of qualifying action in Telford.

The duo of Nicola Bannister and Lucas Coleman-Denny had already rubber stamped their place as gold qualifiers for the event, which is due to take place at the same venue in the middle of next month.

And they were joined in that standard by Lilia Kearney, who finished 14th of 28 in the women’s 15-16 gold event with a score of 83.200.

Meanwhile, the Cangaroos had already seen both Lucas Coleman-Denny and Yacine Boulamaache advance through as silver qualifiers – and they will now be accompanied by Freya Carter, Lily Carter and Iza Moutrie.

The stand-out performance was produced by Moutrie, who was making her debut at national level in the women’s silver disability category 2 9-14 group.

A significant improvement from the first to second exercise gave her a final score of 45.300, which guaranteed a bronze medal.

As for Freya and Lily Carter, they finished 27th and 21st in their respective categories.

The English Championship Finals get under way on Friday, July 14 and will run for three days at the Telford International Centre.
