Crews out in force at leading event

Cantabrigian Rowing Club crews gave a good account of themselves at the Metropolitan Regatta.

A flotilla of boats took part in the event on Dorney Lake, which attracted entries from across the country.

Cantabs’ James Adams was fourth in the heats of the Tier 2 single sculls, while Georgie Plunkett, on her return from injury, finished fifth in her semi-final of the women’s championship single sculls.

The men’s eight of Nick Rice, Guy Fiddian, Sam Philpott, Andrew Marsden, Tom Wordsworth, James Wood, Jon Mccree-Grey, George Hawkswell and cox Sara Russo were 20th out of 62 crews in the time trial to reach the C/D semi-finals, where they were sixth.

Cantabs’ women’s eight were 10th out of 37 crews in their semi-final, and third fastest club crew, to progress to the A/B semi-final where they were fifth, and were eventually seventh in the B final.

Tom Hetherington, Sean Collins, James Lindsey, Jack Goode and cox Leanne Fiddian were fifth in the final of the men’s Tier 2 coxed four.
