Flye soars high for City

Ceri Flye fired five goals as Cambridge City under-15s won 16-0 against Haddenham Rovers in the S-Tech Girls' League.

The team were playing at their new home at St Catherine's College sports ground, and welcomed new sponsors Vin Castiglione from The Maypole Pub in Cambridge, Alec Stancombe from A Stancombe Fencing Contractors and Mick Fudge from AJN Steelstock, Kentford, Newmarket before the match.

City raced into a 5-0 lead at half time against a spirited Haddenham side, and finished with seven players on the score sheet as Flye got five, Eve Rose netted four, Saskia Baillie and Katie Stancombe grabbed two apiece and Ellie Allen, Sofia Castiglione and Yas Abbioui got one each.

Rose and Flye shared the player-of-the-match award, and recent signing Aino Turunen also caught the eye.

Cambridge City under-16s clinched a 3-0 win over Witchford in 16A.

With a good display of free-flowing football, Molly White, Erin Fox and Lucy Hurst were all on target for City.

Ameli Luxford was named player of the match.
