Mixed results for seconds and veterans

Cindy McIntyre and Lindie Tapping earned two points apiece as Cambs and Hunts’ second team drew with Bedfordshire in their annual match.

Captain McIntyre continued her policy of selecting a team that combined youth and experience at Bedford & County Golf Club.

And the Bourn player and Gog Magog’s Tapping won their foursomes 5&4.

Ely City’s Chloe Ashman and Gog Magog’s Chalani Allen lost 4&3 to an experienced Bedfordshire pair, while Ramsey’s Lucy Mills-Cripps and Gog Magog’s Morgan Tritton lost 2-1.

Tapping won the top singles match in the afternoon 2&1, while Ashman earned a half.

McIntyre’s experience helped her to a two-up victory and current junior Tritton was in top form to get a 4&3 win.

But defeats for Allen (5&3) and Mills-Cripps (3&1) saw the match tied at 4½ – 4½.

There was not such good news for Cambs and Hunts veterans’ squad as they lost 5½ – 2½to Bedfordshire at Lakeside Lodge.

In the top foursomes match, Old Nene’s Jacquie Richardson and the Links’ Margaret Beckley lost two down, and then Girton’s Sue Hill and Ely City debutant Sue Didlick were beaten 2&1.

Fellow debutant Jo Skoulding, of Old Nene, and Ely City’s Greta Barclay won 5&3, but St Ives’ Geraldine Fleming and Lakeside Lodge’s Sharon White, also on her debut, lost 4&3.

In the handicap section, there were defeats for St Neots’ Margaret Gates and Lakeside Lodge’s Val Musson (2&1), and Ramsey’s Ina Hartley and Old Nene’s Di Nicholson (2&1).

But Bourn’s Christine King and Old Nene’s Anyta Francis won 2&1 and veterans’ captain Hazel Suswain and Bourn’s Mel Owers earned a half.
