Cambridge United attacker Elias Kachunga branded ‘class act’ by head coach Neil Harris after scoring two goals in 3-1 Vertu Trophy win over Luton Town
Cambridge United head coach Neil Harris has described Elias Kachunga as a ‘class act’ following his two-goal salvo in tonight’s 3-1 victory at the expense of Luton Town in the Vertu Trophy.
It has been a tough 2025/26 campaign so far the German attacker, who spent two seasons in the Premier League earlier in his career with Huddersfield Town.
Kachunga has started just three League Two matches this term, while he was omitted from the matchday squad for last month’s trip to Grimsby Town.
However, the 33-year-old showcased his ability against the Hatters, scoring Cambridge’s second and third goals of the evening to ensure that they got off to a winning start in the competition.
Harris said: “Elias was a class act tonight. He showed a desire and hunger to want to be part of the team, to want to play for the football club and to showcase himself in what might be perceived as a less exciting game for a lot of players that have played at the top level of English football.”
Kachunga joined the U’s in 2023 following a two-season stint at Bolton Wanderers.
