Histon clinched their first win of 2020 by beating Great Wakering Rovers 3-1 in the BetVictor Isthmian League, North Division.

Dan Brown put the Stutes ahead in the 10th minute, and Evan Key doubled the lead after 33 minutes.

Brown got his second of the game to give Histon a 3-0 lead at half time, but George Prucell pulled one back for the hosts after the break.

Histon play host to leaders Aveley this Saturday (February 1).

Cambridge City earned a 1-1 draw at home to Grays Athletic last Saturday.

Joao Carlos put Grays ahead in the first half, but Arel Amu equalised for City after the break.

They were unable to build on it last night (Tuesday) though, as they lost 2-1 at Canvey Island.

New signing Ryan Ingrey, who has joined on dual registration from Royston, made his debut, while Nathan Olukanmi and Ebby Nelson-Addy returned to the starting line-up.

Jason Hallett gave Canvey the lead after 18 minutes, and things got worse as youngster Taylor Horne was sent off for a foul on Sam Bantick.

Canvey got their second after keeper Dan George had saved from Albert Levett but the ball rebounded off City left-back Seb Simpson into the net.

Amu reduced the arrears for City in the 34th minute, but, down to 10 men, they were unable to find an equaliser.

City are away to Coggeshall this Saturday.
