Cambridge South Men's first team score nine goals in convincing derby victory against Cambridge City III

Cambridge South dished out a thumping 9-2 derby defeat on Cambridge City III in the East Men’s League Division 1 North on Saturday.

Will Townley opened the floodgates with a flicked finish in the 10th minute, with Harry Chalk adding two more goals either side of a strike from Oscar Serra.

Two more goals from Tim Winter and Harry Schumann followed in the second half, while the visitors also got themselves a couple of consolations.

In the East Men’s League Division 2 North West, a goal from Henry Blower was not enough to prevent Cambridge South II from losing 2-1 at Bourne Deeping, while Cambridge South III fared better in the East Men’s League Division 3 North West as they edged out Cambridge Nomads II 1-0.

Joe Whittaker scored the only goal of the game to ensure the thirds got back to winning ways.

Goals from Coltman and Roland Li earned Cambridge South IV a 2-2 draw from their trip to Bourne Deeping II in the East Men’s League Division 3 North West, with the spoils also being shared in the East Men’s League Division 4 North West as Cambridge South V played out a 3-3 draw with St Neots II.

Rob Barton, Kieran Birch and Peter Creed were all on target for South but a couple of late goals earned the visitors a share of the spoils.

However, three goals was not enough for Cambridge South VI to take anything from their East Men’s League Division 5 North West clash at Long Sutton III as they lost 4-3.

Goals from Ash Krishnan and Shahbaz Ali (2) put South 3-1 up but they ended up conceding three times in the second half.

In the East Women’s League Division 1 North, Cambridge South lost 3-2 at Spalding.

Laura Ludlow and Emma Julian twice levelled up the scoreline after falling behind but the hosts’ third goal proved to be decisive.

Cambridge South II were in fine goalscoring form as they won 6-0 at Bourne Deeping II in the East Women’s League Division 2 North West.

Jess Foord and Maddy Twyning both scored twice alongside goals from Caitlin Fisher and Sophie Hodgkinson.

In the East Women’s League Division 3 North West, Cambridge South IV went down 2-0 at Huntingdon, while in the East Women’s League Division 4 North West, Cambridge South V recorded a 2-2 draw from their home derby with Cambridge Nomads II.

After falling two goals behind South hit back through Avi Ibayan and Sarah Rittman to rescue a point.

In the East Women’s League Division 5 North West, Cambridge South VI suffered a 5-1 defeat on the road at Wisbech Town IV.

The bottom-of-the-table hosts were well in command before Nicky Simler’s consolation goal.
