Cambridge Dive Team pick up 13 medals at Swim England East Region Club Championships in Southend
Cambridge Dive Team produced their best ever performance at the Swim England East Region Club Championships earlier this month.
The squad, which won a combined 13 medals, racked up a total of 116 points at the event to finish as runners-up behind hosting club Southend Diving.
Head coach Alice Clarke said: “Overall for Cambridge it was a fantastic weekend.
“The divers have made leaps and bounds on last year’s performances at this event and hopefully the trajectory continues on its upwards path throughout the rest of the season.”
In the senior events for 14 years and above, Cambridge’s Daisy Halls triumphed by a four-point margin in the platform and then followed it up with a silver in the 1 metre segment.
Halls also collected a silver in the mixed-platform alongside Max Burnell.
Elsewhere, Cambridge boys dominated the junior events for 14 years and under.
Rufus Bord won a gold, silver and bronze in the 3 metre, 1 metre and platform respectively, while Charles Tibbatts clinched silver in the platform and Ben Matthams contributed some valuable points.
The junior girls also played a big part in securing team points as Amelia Aldridge picked up three medals with a silver in the 1 metre accompanied by bronzes in the 3 metre and platform.
However, the highlight of the competition for the team came courtesy of Bord and Tibbatts as they combined in the platform synchro event to good effect.
Despite only forming their partnership a week ago they found perfect synchronisation to lead from start to finish.
