Cambridge Dive Team collect eight medals from trip to Southampton Invitational
Cambridge Dive Team returned from the weekend’s Southampton Invitational with a total of eight medals.
Five Cambridge divers made the journey to the south coast for the competition, which took place over the course of three days with a range of age-group and elite diving being showcased.
It was Ryan Church that spearheaded Cambridge’s charge towards medals with his haul of three.
Church took home a pair of bronzes in the Boys’ 1m and Boys’ Platform events, while he went two better to collect gold in the Boys’ 3m.
The club’s other gold medal belonged to Ben Matthams, who came out on top in the Boys’ B 3m – an event in which Dominic Williams won a bronze. Matthams also collected a bronze in the Boys’ 1m springboard, while Williams doubled up his number of medals with a silver in the 1m final.
The club’s other medal was won by Tobi Fayomi as she battled her way to a silver Girls’ Group C 3m event.
Meanwhile, Charles Tibbatts was also in action for the club and narrowly missed out on a number of occasions, finishing seventh in two of his competitions. He did manage to book his place in one final in the Boys’ C Platform event, during which he recorded a sixth-placed finish overall.
