Two losses in top tier to London GD

Cambridge Handball Club suffered a double defeat at the hands of London GD in the Premier Handball League.

It was always going to be a difficult afternoon for Cambridge at the Barking Sporthouse as London GD top both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Neither match was particularly close, with the narrowest margin being in the men’s game.

Jose Ballester Beltran and Florian Strohl were the top scorers, with four apiece, as Cambridge, who are currently fourth in the table, were beaten 31-23 by the leaders.

Alejandro Garcia Costa, Levente Kovacs and Tobias Barber all chipped in with three goals each.

Cambridge’s women’s team are having a difficult season at the wrong end of the table, and it did not get any easier against London GD.

They were beaten 29-19 by the leaders, leaving them three points clear of bottom-placed Peninsula having played a game more.

Nikoletta Rau and Agi Foglein were top scorers for Cambridge with five goals apiece.

The women’s team are back in action this weekend, away to London Angels; while the men’s team’s next match is on April 14, away to Olympia.
