Head coach expecting tough test

Jabo Ibehre and David Amoo will be hoping to grab a place in Cambridge United’s starting line-up to face former club Carlisle United in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.

The duo were second-half substitutes in the U’s 3-1 defeat to Swindon Town last Saturday, with Amoo coming off the bench to earn the sponsors’ man-of-the-match award.

And they will face a Carlisle side looking to make up lost ground on the play-offs after consecutive draws, against Exeter City and Crawley Town.

“It’s another game in this section [against promotion-chaser], and it’s a difficult game,” said U’s interim head coach Joe Dunne.

“We have ex-players going back to a place where they’ve played before so the key thing is to be motivated and work on what we’ve worked on this week and go out and have another go.

“Jabo and David both had a good spell there. I think the Carlisle faithful will welcome them back.

“They appreciate good people up there so I’m sure they will get a good reception but on the day we want them to maximise their best for us.”

Dunne added: “This week, we go to a team who are pushing [for the play-offs]. Last week’s result was a little bit disappointing [the 2-2 draw with Crawley] but they will still be positive about making it as they should be.

“We’ve got to be at our best and competitive.”
