Duo on their way out at Cambridge City
Keeper and defender make Lilywhites exit
Niall Conroy and Mason Spence have both left Cambridge City.
Goalkeeper Conroy joined City in the summer and was an almost ever-present before injury ruled him out.
On his return to fitness, he has been unable to oust Charlie Bannister, who was previously with Solihull Motors and joined in January, from between the sticks.
Defender Spence linked up with the Lilywhites at the beginning of the campaign, but has seen his appearances limited in recent weeks.
He has been released in order to seek regular first-team football.
“I would like to thank both players for their efforts at Cambridge City and wish them welll in finding another club,” said City manager Robbie Nightingale.
It was not a good day on the pitch at the weekend as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Hayes & Yeading.
The Lilywhites were playing their first home game since Boxing Day, but two first-half goals did the damage as they lost ground in the Evo-Stik League, South East Division promotion chase.
They are now seventh in the table with 52 points, four points adrift of AFC Dunstable with two matches in hand.
AFC Rushden & Diamonds lead the way with 66 points, three clear of Beaconsfield Town.
City are due to be away to Thame United this Saturday (February 24).
