Ed Rolph bags brace as Histon defeat leaders Bury Town in BetVictor Isthmian League, North Division
Ed Rolph struck two second-half goals as Histon secured an impressive 3-0 win over BetVictor Isthmian League, North Division leaders Bury Town.
Having won 3-0 away to Canvey Island in their previous match, the Stutes were eager to make a swift start at the table-toppers.
The breakthrough arrived after only 19 minutes, as Simon Swinton volleyed home from a corner at the front post.
Keeper Sam Roach was a safe pair of hands, and had to be at his best to help maintain Histon’s lead in the first half.
After the break, they doubled their lead when Rolph rose to meet Lewis McDonald’s pinpoint cross with a header on the hour.
Histon completed their scoring in the 75th minute, with Rolph cutting in off the left and bursting into the area to fire into the top corner.
The Stutes are now up to seventh in the table, and this Saturday (December 14) travel to Coggeshall Town.
