Win over Great Yarmouth Town follows success against Brantham Athletic

Ed Rolph hit a hat-trick as Histon won 5-1 against Great Yarmouth Town to keep the pressure on the top three in the Thurlow Nunn League, Premier Division.

They closed the gap on the leading trio with a 3-2 win over Brantham Athletic on Saturday.

The Stutes made the trip to Essex knowing that victory would lift them above their opponents into fourth place.

Ed Rolph put Histon ahead after 10 minutes, but Brantham were back on level terms only two minutes later.

Matt Hayden restored Histon’s lead in the 26th minute, and put them 3-1 up after 57 minutes.

Brantham pulled a goal back after 66 minutes, but Histon held on for victory despite having Rukky Diejamoah sent off late on.

On Tuesday night, Great Yarmouth opened the scoring, only for Rolph to equalise.

The Bloaters then had a player sent off, and Rolph went on to complete his treble and Max York and James Carman also scored as Histon made it 10 games unbeaten.
