Ed Rolph struck for Histon as they earned a 1-1 draw at Kirkley & Pakefield in the Thurlow Nunn League, Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Cameron Russell had given Kirkley & Pakefield the lead from the penalty spot after 13 minutes, but the Stutes were back on level terms before the break.

Simon Swinton seized on a clearance by the keeper to lift the ball back into the box, and Rolph headed home.

And there was no breakthrough in the second half meaning Histon maintain their 12 point lead at the top of the table, with seven games remaining.

The draw followed a 4-2 win at Gorlestion last Saturday, when Max York and Dan Brown were at the double.

The Stutes made a good start, with captain York volleying in the opener after 10 minutes.

Gorleston equalised after 34 minutes, but York put Histon 2-1 up at half-time.

In the 50th minute, Dan Brown raced through to make it 3-1, but Gorleston pulled a goal back after 62 minutes. York had a penalty saved after Matt Green had been fouled, however, Brown completed the win in the 89th minute.

Histon are at home to Great Yarmouth Town this Saturday (March 30).
