Fast times for Rob Huff in World Touring Car Cup Race of Macau
Successful weekend on Far East streets
Rob Huff earned the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy after earning two podium finishes in the World Touring Car Cup Race of Macau.
The 38-year-old was looking for his 10th victory on the 6.12km street circuit, but while the Sebastien Loeb Racing driver missed out on the top step of the podium, it was a successful weekend.
He qualified in pole for races one and three, and got a pair of fastest laps in the opening two races, with 2min 21.038sec in the first race earning him the trophy.
Huff was third in race one and second in race three, finishing 24th in race two, and it meant he completed the season in eighth overall.
“A lot of people ask me whether I’m disappointed, but I’ve had nine wins here so to share them around is not a problem,” said Huff.
“We had a great weekend. What you remember over the winter is how you finished and we finished strong.
“With a second and third and a win in Japan, I’m very happy with the ending of our season.
“Huge thanks to Sébastien Loeb Racing and Volkswagen for the support this year, it’s been amazing what we’ve achieved and probably what we could have achieved, and hopefully we’ll put that together next year.”
