Cambridge University Boat Club alumni secure places on Team GB rowing team for Paris Olympics

A batch of Cambridge University Boat Club alumni have joined Imogen Grant in being selected as part of the Team GB squad for the Olympic Games in Paris, which start next month.

Oliver Wynne-Griffith and Tom George, both of whom studied at Peterhouse during their time in Cambridge, have not been off the podium in the men’s pair at World Championships, European Championships and World Cups since the previous Olympics three years ago.

And the duo have been in particularly impressive form of late with victories at two World Cups and the Euros.

Meanwhile, Freddie Davidson (Emmanuel) has made the cut in the men’s four.

Davidson and his crew-mates were undefeated on every start for a two-year period, and recently won medals at two World Cups and the European Championships.

Henry Fieldman (Homerton) will be the cox in the British women’s eight, who will be up against Olivia Coffey (Homerton) following her call-up in the Team USA boat.

As for Hughes Hall graduate Dara Alizadeh, he will represent the British island territory of Bermuda in the men’s single sculls.
