Gareth Evans wants Shelford to turn Davey Field into a fortress
Shelford ready to host Westcliff
Shelford will be aiming to keep their home record in tact when they host Westcliff in National League Three, London & SE this weekend.
They were beaten 27-10 by leaders Tonbridge Juddian last weekend, but will take a 100 per cent record into the match at the Davey Field this Saturday, when they face a team one place behind them in the table.
“They were probably a little bit better than us all round in every area really, but there wasn’t a lot in it,” said Shelford head coach Gareth Evans.
“We’re really pleased with our work ethic, we stuck in there and there were some really good performances.
“We’ve still got this recrord where we’ve not been beaten at home and it’s something we’re hanging our hat on.
“If we can win all our homes games and go and win some of the away games and be competitive against some of the top sides away, then it is building towards the future.
“We’re building this good team spirit and culture at the club and there is a lot more positive feel at the club and hopefully that resonates around the club.
“If we’re stronger off the field then hopefully that will help us be stronger on the field as well.
“We’re pleased to be back at home, and hanging our hats on this record. They are just below us in teh table but if we win on Saturday we could climb a few spots.
“If we can play well at home and turn the Davey Field into a fortress and somewhere teams don’t want to visit, then we will do well.”
