Cambridge United complete loan signing of Vicente Reyes from Norwich City

Cambridge United have completed the signing of Vicente Reyes from Norwich City on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper joined the Canaries last summer from Atlanta United II but spent last term away from Carrow Road.

For the first half of the campaign, the shot-stopper – who has represented Chile at under-17, under-20 and under-23 levels – was on loan at Braintree Town where he made four appearances before moving to Forest Green Rovers in February.

The South Carolina-born goalkeeper impressed during his 16 games at the relegated Sky Bet League Two outfit, where he won the Player of the Month award for his performances in April.

“I am really excited to join the club”, Reyes said, speaking to United’s website.

“It’s another big step forward in my development as a player and I hope to help the team in anyway that I can.

“The vision of the manager and the club is really impressive and I can’t wait to be a part of it this upcoming season.”

This is the fourth signing U’s boss Garry Monk has made this summer, as Reyes joins Kelland Watts, James Gibbons and Shayne Lavery through the door at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.

“Vicente is an extremely talented goalkeeper and I am delighted that he has joined us for the upcoming season,” said Monk.

“He arrives with great ambition and will make the squad as competitive as possible.”
