Cambridge United Women ready for Cledara Abbey Stadium clash against Dulwich Hamlet after another big victory

The goals continued to flow for Cambridge United on Sunday as they chalked up a 6-0 victory at Ashford Town.

The U’s have now found the back of the net on 16 occasions in their last three FA Women's National League Division One South East outings, making them joint top scorers alongside leaders Norwich City.

Against Ashford, the deadlock was broken in the fifth minute through Kelsey Smith, who in doing so netted her first goal in Cambridge colours.

A further brace from Alysha Stojko-Down and one goal from Isabella Simmons saw United take a healthy 4-0 advantage with them into the break.

Stojko-Down went on to complete her hat-trick after the restart, while captain Eva Hubbard was also on the scoresheet for the second time this term.

Fourth-placed United will now look to showcase their attacking talent at the Cledara Abbey Stadium on Sunday (22 September) when Dulwich Hamlet will be their visitors.

U’s boss Darren Marjoram said: “We’re full of confidence but equally every time we’ve ticked a game off we just focus on the next game.

“The confidence is great of course but we’ve got to go out there and perform again. You can’t ever rest back and think of the last game, it’s all about the next one.

“We’re in a good vein of form but we’ve got to out there against a good side, it’s a real big test for us at the Abbey.

“Hopefully we can get people of down there to come and support. People can see our results have been good and we’ve love for people to come and see what this team is all about. More than anything the players really deserve that.”
