Royston Town complete signing of Aaron Greene after recent Cambridge City departure

Aaron Greene has sealed a move to a new club following his recent departure from Cambridge City.

The attacking midfielder, who scored four goals in 21 appearances for the Lilywhites this season, has joined higher-league Royston Town.

Crows boss Chris Watters told the club’s website: “I’ve known Aaron for a while and he has been on our radar for a while. He’s a great lad and will bring something both on and off the pitch to our squad.

“He’s played at this level and higher previously and I am confident that he will be a success at Garden Walk.”

Meanwhile, former AFC Sudbury, Bishop’s Stortford and Boston United playmaker Greene added: “I am delighted to have joined Royston Town.

“It is a great club with a lot of ambition. I am looking forward to working with Chris and the rest of the squad and can’t wait to get started.”

Greene will have to wait to make his Royston debut after their trip to Halesowen Town this afternoon was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

And the side that he has left behind – City – also have a free weekend after their trip to Ipswich Wanderers went the same way.

Next up for Jamie Cureton’s men will be a home against Haringey Borough on 18 January.
