Cambridge United Women announce appointment of Sean Greygoose as new first team manager
Sean Greygoose has been named the new head coach of Cambridge United’s Women’s first team.
The appointment represents a step up for Greygoose, who has spent the previous two years in charge of the club’s Under-18s. During his stint in that job, Greygoose guided the youngsters to two top three finishes and a county cup final.
But he will now be responsible for the senior side’s fortunes, having been selected as the successor to Darren Marjoram following his departure last month.
Greygoose said: “I’m really looking forward to getting started and working with all the players, the staff and the club.
“It’s an exciting time for Cambridge United and we want to build on and continue the progression of the Women’s team.
“I have really enjoyed my time working with the younger players and I believe that there is a genuine pathway at the club.”
Speaking about the appointment, chair of the Women’s Board, Gisela Otten, added: “Sean is a highly qualified coach and knows the club inside out, having previously worked in the youth development department and overseen the Under-18s.
“We have been impressed by his calm leadership and know he will bring a well-defined footballing philosophy and a strategic vision for helping us realise our ambitions.
“With the new season on the horizon, Sean will bring fresh energy and direction as we enter the next phase of the development of the women’s first team.”
A new Under-18s head coach is set to be appointed in due course.
