Cambridge Dive Team get among the medals during Southampton Invitational competition
Cambridge Dive Team won three silver medals at the Southampton Invitational event late last month.
The competition saw a range of elite divers in varying age groups battling it out for qualification places in next year’s National Age Group Championships.
And the six-strong squad for Cambridge carried themselves with distinction.
They were spearheaded by Daisy Halls, who finished runner-up in two different sections.
Her first silver came in the Girls Group B 1m event, while her second came in the platform.
The club’s other silver medal was earned by Rufus Bord, who after making it through to the final of the Boys Group C 1m competition, produced three good dives to secure his place on the podium.
Zia Gordon and Amelia Aldridge also finished 14th and ninth in the Girls Group C 3m competition, with Dominic Williams (12th) and Charlie Tibbatts (seventh) going well in the Boys Group 3m. Bord also featured in that event and reached the final before finishing sixth.
Gordon (ninth) and Aldridge (seventh) also produced some eye-catching dives in the Girls Group C, along with Williams (seventh) and Tibbatts (11th) in the Boys Group C 1m.
Head coach Alice Clarke said: “Overall the team had a good weekend. Lots of valuable experience and lessons learnt. The divers continue to showcase their hard work and stamp their authority on the diving stage.”
