First achieved for Cambridge Regional College student

Hannah Milton has qualified for the Association of Colleges Sport National Championships.

The 17-year-old Cambridge Regional College sports studies student has become the first student from CRC to reach the badminton finals, where she will represent the eastern region.

The national championships are at Nottingham University from April 21 to 23, and Milton will play in the singles, double and mixed tournaments against athletes from across England and Wales seeking individual and team glory, with the aim of lifting the prestigious Wilkinson Sword trophy.

“I’ve played badminton since I was 10 and have been trying to get back into it lately, so reaching the finals is a fantastic boost,” said Milton.

And her tutor at CRC, Neil Andrews, said: “We’re so pleased that Hannah has qualified for the National Championships – she is the first from our college to represent us in badminton.

“Hannah has shown she has a real talent and we are sure she will do herself and the college proud.”

The championships are now in their 39th year and are the largest student sporting event in the UK, with nearly 1,800 competitors across 13 different sports.
