Good start to the season for under-15 girls

Harriett Stares grabbed a try hat-trick as Cambridge under-15s secured a 34-12 National Cup, first pool round stage win over Lakenham Hewett.

In their first match of the season, Stares got the opening try after pressure on the line and Poppy Elliott doubled the lead after taking a quick tap penalty to touch down.

Lakenham hit back to reduce the arrears to 10-5 just before half time.

Elliott took another quick penalty to get her second try and then Stares pounced for her second, which was converted by Maya Collinson.

Cody Youngman broke through to touch down for Cambridge, but Lakenham then hit back.

However, with five minutes remaining, Stares completed her hat-trick and Collinson landed the conversion to seal the win.
