Cambridge University Boat Club name Lucy Havard and Luca Ferraro as openweight presidents for next year’s Boat Race

Cambridge University Boat Club have revealed their presidents for the 2024/25 Gemini Boat Race season.

The openweight women’s role has been taken on by Lucy Havard, who returned to Cambridge University back in the summer of 2022 for a PhD in history at Gonville & Caius College.

A qualified doctor, Havard was selected for the spare pair in 2023 and was part of last year’s Blondie crew that were beaten by their Oxford counterparts.

Meanwhile, Luca Ferraro has been named the openweight men’s president.

Peterhouse student Ferraro, who won gold with the British Under-23s at the 2023 World Championships, was part of the triumphant men’s Boat Race-winning crews of the last two years.

The lightweight women’s and lightweight men’s positions have gone to Madeline Jackson (St Edmunds College) and Gianluca Maffi (Downing College) respectively.

Next year’s Boat Race is scheduled to take part on Sunday, 13 April.
