Histon and Cambridge City make FA Trophy exits
Histon and Cambridge City have both made exits from the FA Trophy in the second qualifying round.
Histon faced a tricky trip to Corby Town but made a great start with Ed Rolph giving them the lead in the sixth minute.
Corby responded with an equaliser through James Clifton, and it remained 1-1 at half time.
Corby then surged into a 5-1 lead by the 76th minute.
However, Histon were not finished. Josh Dawkin pulled one back in the 78th minute, and Rolph got a second two minutes later. Joe Curtis was sent off for a second yellow card for Corby in the 87th minute, but they held on for a 5-3 win.
There was an even bigger defeat for nine-man Cambridge City, who were beaten 5-0 at Bedford Town.
Hugh Alban Jones and Lewis Miccio had put Beford 2-0 up before Yaw Nanthi-Ofosu was shown a straight red card for a late tackle on Olly Swain, and Tom Hitchock was dimissed a minute later for dissent towards the referee.
After the break, Alban Jones got his second to make it 3-0 to Bedford.
Rene Howe and Craig Mackail-Smith rounded off the scoring for the hosts.
Cambridge City are at home to Shepshed Dynamo this Saturday (October 16), and Histon are away to Chasetown.
