Six different scorers helped Histon finish off their Thurlow Nunn League, Premier Division season at home with an unbeaten record after a 6-1 win over Newmarket Town on Tuesday night.

James Chivers was fouled in the area in the 14th minute, giving captain Max York the chance to open the scoring from the spot.

The lead was doubled in the 26th minute as a smart passing move between York and Lee Smith saw the latter go through to sidefoot past the keeper.

Dan Brown hooked up to make it 4-0 after 34 minutes and then Ed Rolph's persistence led to a mix-up in the Newmarket defence for the striker to tuck into an empty net.

In the 61st minute, Sheldon Weinman powered in a header from a Smith corner.

Histon's scoring was completed when Evan Key nodded in a Pat Bexfield free kick, while Newmarket got a consolation minutes later.

The result followed a 1-0 win at Whitton United last Saturday.

After a goalless first half in a game that struggled to get going, the Stutes broke the deadlock in the 55th minute.

Brown worked his way into the area on the right and past the keeper then, from a near impossible angle, managed to steer the ball across goal into the far corner.

Histon complete their season away to Framlingham Town on Saturday (April 27).
